Ellen has congenital multi-segmental primary lymphoedema with systemic involvement. Growing up with her condition she felt isolated and struggled to accept her condition. After undergoing successful and intensive treatment, she felt enabled to manage her lymphoedema better and learn to finally accept her lymphoedema diagnosis.
Ellen firmly believes in the importance of supporting confidence, acceptance and self-management techniques within the lymphoedema community. She is keen to increase patient representation at all levels of policy, presenting at the British Lymphology Society Annual Conference and more recently the launch of the commissioning guidance at the UK House of Commons.
Ellen is currently studying Medicine at Cardiff University and firmly believes in effective education and awareness of lymphoedema across medical education.
Ellen joined the Board of Directors in June 2019.
