Honorary Trustee, Peter Franks, is a medical scientist with interests in the epidemiology and health economics of wounds and lymphoedema. He has been researching wound care for over 30 years with his main collaborator Professor Christine Moffatt.
Together, they established the Centre for Research & Implementation of Clinical Practice (CRICP), a charity established in 1994, to develop and evaluate models of care to overcome the specific needs of health organisations and patients. The Centre has established links with academic and clinical groups in Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, USA, Japan and Canada. He was president of the European Wound Management Association 2005-2007, having served on the board of directors of EWMA for ten years.
In April 2001 Peter received a full personal chair in Health Sciences at Thames Valley University (now the University of West London), UK. His current position is as the director of CRICP.
Peter has been a co-author on the number of research projects related to epidemiology and service development in both leg ulceration and lymphoedema. He is a partner in an Erasmus project (PoLyEurope – Postgraduate Lymphology Training in Europe) funded by the EU to develop a pan European graduate course in lymphoedema to medical practitioners.
Peter was granted the position as Honorary Trustee of the International Lymphoedema Framework in June 2018 after several years serving the Board as a Director.
